Join us for guided tours of Fragile Home with the exhibition’s curator Aistė Kisarauskaitė.
The exhibition takes its starting point from the history of LIAA, marked by repeated moves from one temporary gallery space to another. Today, the fragility of home has acquired new meanings.
Images of apartment blocks destroyed by missiles and the renewed threat of war prompt us to reconsider the safety of our cities and revive memories of ancestral homes lost to occupation. At the same time, the exhibition looks beyond anxiety and loss to other shifts shaping the present: renewed experiences of rural life, sheep farming and long winters in the countryside, mobility and consciously chosen forms of nomadism, as well as distant places that may become second – or even primary – homes.

The tour will trace the connections between works by artists of different generations, and the history of LIAA, which became one of its starting points. It will also offer a closer look at the different meanings of home unfolding throughout the exhibition, from the Association’s history of temporary spaces and the traces preserved in its archive to war, migration, rural life, memory and attempts to make a place one’s own.
