“Small Town Murder Songs”. Laurynas Skeisgiela

We arrive at dusk. Having turned on the infrared heater we seal the opening of where the doors would be. This place used to be a bakery. Its ground floor is filled with a mix of smells of sugar and mould. Slipping on a shiny greasy surface we lay down the cables. It will be a concert hall here. A knot of sticky cable extensions leads upstairs, to yet another four projections. Due to freezing cold and the lack of time we carry everything plugged in together. The corridor pulsates with sharp rays of light. It is filled with dust, possibilities and someone else’s dreams – all flying around in the beam of light.

This exhibition is a walk inside the archive of fragile projections and models. The material of this archive was collected over several years by the method of long lasting observation of contemporary art events and their organisers. “Small Town Murder Songs” is a slow journey down the storages, lifts and corridors, ignoring the facades, but quietly singing the stories which normally would not reflect back from the surfaces.
